Aubrey Edwards is a Brooklyn-based freelance portrait and rock & roll photographer. She received her Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Texas and received an Associate of Applied Science from the Photography Department at Austin Community College, both programs highly regarded. Post-graduation she began her internship in Wellington, New Zealand; there she worked intimately with the New Zealand Centre for Photography and began her career shooting bands. Her present client roster includes the likes of the United Nations, Neiman Marcus, Spin magazine, and Fender guitars. While Aubrey photographs for a slew of magazines, newspapers, alt-weeklies, and record labels, her passion lies in traveling the world with her camera and documenting an array of subcultures and people that she meets along the way. At a young age she discovered the power of the image and realized it was her life's journey to fight for social justice and to better this world harnessing the power of the lens. Aubrey has a constant array of self-funded projects series, including portraits of Texas barbers, images of Southern Mexico's Zapatista communities, and her present labor of love, Blood Sweat & Tears: Portraits of New Orleans Rebuilders and Residents. She has been a photography and art educator for nearly a decade. Presently, she guest lectures regularly at the University of New Orleans, is one of the core teachers with the New Orleans Kid Camera Project, and voluntarily teaches workshops with national school districts and community organizations worldwide. This is her first endeavor into the world of children's books, and she's very, very excited about it. Contact: E-mail Aubrey at aubreyedwards@gmail.com, or call her at 512/203-5054. |
